BIOGRAPHY

Lesego Motsiri currently lives in Bloemfontein, Free State, where he is completing his BA Fine Arts Degree at the University of the Free State. At the same time, he is working as a student art curator assistant at the Johannes Stegmann Art Gallery. Born in Klerksdorp in the North West province, Motsiri finished his schooling at Potchefstroom Boys High School. He is now working towards building a future as a full time visual artist.

In 2016, Lesego was nominated to take part in the District Six 50 th Commemoration Print Exchange, hosted by the District Six Art Museum. In the same year he was a semi-finalist of the Sasol New Signatures Art Competition and his print was selected by Phatshoane Henney Attorneys for their 2016 calendar.

From 2015 to 2017 Motsiri has exhibited in the annual student exhibtion at the Johannes Stegmann Art Gallery. Produced by Oddz_Creatives, Motsiri also had a solo exhibition at the Central University of Technology, titledThe_Black_Season_17 in 2017. In addition, The_Black_Season_17 collaborated with choreographer, Motlatsi Khotle, for the theatre production Black Season; which premiered at the Ernest Oppenheimer Theatre in 2017.

Lesego Motsiri has served as chairperson of United Free State of Mind, an art-based association at the University of the Free State, since its inception in 2015. In 2016 and 17, Motsiri has also voluntarily been working at the Free State Art Festival to gain further experience. “I am a committed and goal orientated individual who believes that one is to work hard in order to achieve; one is to always remain focused on the objective and be willing to go the extra mile in helping others. I am determined to achieve the best results in all I do”.
